Founded in 1957, Orient International Holding Shanghai Textiles Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd.  (formerly known as Shanghai Textiles Imp. & Exp. Company) is one of the earliest state-owned professional foreign trade companies in China. It is mainly engaged in the import and export of textiles, including textile raw materials, yarns, fabrics and garments. Fabric export is the most featured business of the company. It covers bleaching, dyeing, printing and yarn-dyed fabrics made from natural fibers, man-made fibers, synthetic fibers or their blended/interwoven products. The garments include shirts, underwear, casual wear, sportswear, children's wear, suits and etc. Besides the basic products, the company is market-oriented and committed to the development of fast-selling, fashionable and functional fabrics. It keeps on promoting the development of high-tech and eco-friendly products. Becoming the most competitive integrator of textile fabrics is the company’s development goal.

In addition to its own management and business departments, the company has six share-holding subsidiaries which are Shanghai Huada Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., Shanghai Kingdom Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., Shanghai Win-wing Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., Shanghai Wintex Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., Shanghai Fartex Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Welltex Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd. Each subsidiary operates independently under the leadership of the board of directors. The company also has trading branches overseas.

The company has a complete set of self-owned brands system, among which Milky Way is the most famous trademark. The Milky Way Trueran fabric has a large share in Africa, Latin America, Middle East and South East Asia markets. It is warmly welcomed by the customers and enjoys high reputation. The Milky Way trademark has consecutively been awarded as a famous trademark in Shanghai for seven times. It has also been awarded as "Shanghai Export Famous Brand" and "Shanghai Famous Brand" for several times. It is the first self-owned brand protected by the Customs Intellectual Property in Shanghai. It is a banner representing the export of fabrics in Shanghai and even in China.
